Invitation Design Process

Email or Phone Consultation

The invitation process begins with an email or phone call going over in detail the scope of your project.  At this time we will need to know some of the following information (see below), in order to create a custom quote for you.  You may also send us any inspirational photos or ideas of things you like  along with details about your wedding/event, your style, and your overall vision you are hoping to portray through your invitation. Details We Need
Pieces that need to be lettered in calligraphy.
We will create one master handwritten design for all pieces you want in
your invitation package that prints can be made from.
(For Example – Invitation, RSVP Card, RSVP Return Address, Reception Inserts, Direction Card, Outer Envelope Return Address, etc.).  Please let us know exactly what pieces you want to include in your invitation package. We can also do other things such as Menus to coordinate, Save the Dates, Programs, Thank You Cards, etc. Also, we can address your envelopes in beautiful calligraphy to complete the overall look! If you would like any of these additional services please let us know at this time.

Quantity if Printing
If you would like for us to do the printing for you we will need to know how may invitation sets you will need printed.  Please factor in some extras as you may have additional guests to invite!

Font Choices
We offer a wide selection of font choices.  You can view our styles here. You may choose multiple fonts for your design, or elect for us to do a custom font.  If you are wanting a custom font please send us inspirational photos so we can review.

Design and Layout
If you have particular design in mind that includes artwork you love please let us know (photos are encouraged too). Please keep in mind that graphic design elements can only be incorporated if we are doing the printing for you. Also, if there is a unique layout you would like your invitation written in let us know.  We are more than happy to help with suggesting creative ideas and will include that information in your quote.

Ink Color(s)
All of our artwork is first done in black ink. If we are doing the printing for you, depending on the printing method you choose, will help us narrow down what ink colors are available.  Please let us know what color or colors you would like. If you have any specific color swatches for viewing you would like matched, please send us images of those via email.  We will let you know in your quote what options are available for you .  If you have your own printer, the calligraphy invitation design will be scanned over to you in black ink.  Your printer will be able to colorize our work.

Printing Method
If you do not have your own printer we can help!  Let us know what printing option below you are interested in.  Please keep in mind some options can only be done with certain colors and multiple  colors.  We will send you all these details in your quote along with paper options for your printing selection.  The printing methods we currently have available include:

Quote and Payment

After we receive the information listed above, a detailed price quote estimate will be sent to you within 1 to 2 business days. In the meantime you can view our invitation design starting prices here. If you would like to move forward and book us, the calligraphy order form/contract will need to be completed at this time. Once we receive the this form, payment (in full) for the design work will be due before we begin.

If you have contracted us to do your printing, a 50% (non-refundable) deposit will be due before production begins. This will be due once the initial design is complete and proofing is approved.  The balance (non-refundable) will be due when printing is finished.  If we are doing your envelope addressing please visit Here on how to book us for that portion of your order.

Design and Proofs

We begin each invitation design by sketching all pieces in pencil.  This gives us the opportunity to make edits before lettering the design in ink. During this stage you will receive several images of the sketch as we proceed.  You will have the opportunity to make two free rounds of revisions once the sketches are complete.  Any further edits will be billed at $50 per revision.  Please make sure you review your proofs carefully and twice! Once you have approved all sketches, each piece will be inked in beautiful calligraphy. If you have your own printer already, we will send all files to them in a high resolution scan. We will not be able to got back and make any edits after this occurs.

If you have opted for any graphic design elements, that artwork will be incorporated after the calligraphy is finalized. You will receive two to three options with graphics implemented in your invitation design to choose from.  Two rounds of free revisions are given at this time as well. Further revisions will be billed at $50 per edit. Please note that graphics can only be used in a design if we are doing the printing for you.

Approval and Production

Once you have approved all pieces of your invitation suite, printing production will begin.  If you have your own printer already we send all files to you or your printer in a high resolution scan. Please let us know the printing company you are working with so we can communicate easily with them on any requirements they may have from us.  Thanks!

Scheduling
Electronic Artwork: The turnaround time can vary depending on our current schedule and how many pieces we are designing for you.  Generally we can complete an entire invitation package (camera-ready artwork) in 7 days if all things run smoothly and we aren’t crazy busy.  Otherwise you can expect a turnaround time to take up to two weeks.

Printing: The turnaround time to design and do the printing generally takes anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks.

Envelope Addressing: The turnaround time will vary depending on our current schedule and quantity of envelopes you need addressed. For more helpful information on envelope addressing visit Here.

Completion

Once your invitation suite is finished printing we will send you an invoice for the balance that will include shipping charges.  If you have your own printer, you will not owe any further money as your order was paid in full for the camera ready calligraphy artwork in the beginning.
